The Story
High atop mist shrouded mountains, Germania watches over those who came before and those yet to rise. She is the eternal sentinel, a presence both solemn and commanding, gathering the spirits of forgotten warriors beneath her gaze.
With a crown of sorrow and a sword that ignites courage, she calls them forth, a rallying force for those whose deeds were hidden in shadow.
Through storm and fire, across time and battle, her spirit endures, guiding, protecting, and ensuring that the courage of these women is never lost to history.
Historical Background.
“Germania” is a symbolic figure representing the personification of the German nation and its people, first depicted in the 19th century as a female allegory of strength, unity, and vigilance. While not a historical individual, she has often been used in art and literature to embody national identity and resilience through periods of conflict and change.

Inspiration.
What inspired "The Eternal Guardian" was not a historical woman, but the figure of Germania herself, and the role she came to take within the world of "Veil of Valour".
Germania is traditionally a personification of the German people, a female symbol that has represented strength, unity, sorrow and resilience through times of conflict and change. But when I imagined her within "Veil of Valour", she became something more.
She became the one who remembers.
History remembers many things. It remembers battles, rulers, victories and defeats. But there are countless people who disappear between those lines, warriors whose names are forgotten, people whose deeds are no longer told, and ordinary lives that were simply swept away by the events of their time.
Germania remembers them.
But to me, she also represents those who were left behind.
The parent who waited for a son who never came home. The brother or sister who lost someone they loved. The husband or wife who was left with nothing but memories. The families who had to carry their grief long after the battles were over.
She is the sorrow left behind by war, the grief of those who waited, those who lost someone, and those who had to continue living after the people they loved were gone. She carries the pain of countless families, even when history remembers only the battles that caused it.
That is why I imagined Germania not simply as a monument to the fallen, but as someone who carries their memory. She mourns those who have been forgotten, remembers the names that history has allowed to fade, and refuses to let the people behind those names disappear completely.
That is why she is the first voice of "Veil of Valour".
Germania is the one who chooses who should be brought back into the light. She reaches across time and distance, into forgotten battles, legends and stories, calling those whose voices have been lost.
In that sense, Germania is also my voice within the story.
I am the one who chose the sixteen voices of "Veil of Valour".
Germania is the one who remembers them.
She is the one who looks into the forgotten corners of history and says: these stories should not disappear.
And when she calls them back into the light, "Veil of Valour" begins.
