The release of Veil of Valour coincides with Armistice Day – the anniversary of the end of the First World War – lending an extra historical resonance to an album that celebrates courage, strength, and human endurance. Across sixteen epic tracks, Veil of Valour honors female warriors, heroes, and legends – some historical, others mythical – whose stories of bravery and sacrifice have too often been forgotten.

The journey to this album began more than fifteen years ago, sparked by a fascination with individuals who once shaped the world but slipped through the cracks of history. Over time, this search revealed countless women whose names rarely appear in the history books. Figures like Boudica, the warrior queen of the Iceni, emerged from the shadows – her story echoing myths of rebellion and defiance. From these discoveries grew a vast collection of material: thirty potential songs distilled into sixteen of the most compelling tales of strength, tragedy, and triumph.

Some of these heroines walked the earth, others belong to legend. Valkyries soar over battlefields, guiding the fallen; Grendel’s Mother embodies the terrifying duality of love and vengeance; Germania herself stands as a symbolic leader, calling the forgotten back into the light. Together, they form a chorus of power and endurance – warriors of flesh and myth whose spirits demand remembrance.

The creative process was as epic as the stories themselves. Early recordings were set aside for years before being revived with modern production tools, allowing each track to reach a cinematic intensity. Nordic folk motifs weave through thunderous guitars; Japanese, Celtic, Apache, and Mediterranean elements meet symphonic metal and soaring choirs, creating a sound that feels both ancient and timeless.
